Mansfeild Park - March 14-16
We’ll be at the Central Districts Field Day at Mansfeild Park all three days, March 14-16. Find out about MAF’s worldwide work!
We are looking forward to being at this year’s Field Day in Feilding. After you walk through the Agriculture Pavilion, you will find us a few hundred yards further on, on the left. We’ll be in section T20…you can’t miss our Cessna 206! This is a special opportunity to find out about Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF). With a fleet of 130 aircraft in over 30 countries, MAF flies in some of the most challenging places in the world!
Come on over and say, “Hi”. Chat with some of the MAF New Zealand team and meet MAF NZ CEO Mark Fox. Come and see our operational MAF plane that flew as a lifeline to isolated communities for 30 years!
This Cessna 206 flew with MAF for 30 years, first in Cambodia and then in the remote far north of Australia. It has the capacity to carry up to 5 passengers or 400kg of freight. It is currently used to train and prepare pilots for the challenging conditions they will face overseas.
All MAF’s 206s have been modified to suit the environments in which they fly; over-size main wheels and heavy-duty nose gear are designed to withstand the forces exerted on the aircraft from rough airstrips. A large cargo pod underneath the plane allows extra freight to be carried.
One of the smallest aircraft in the MAF fleet, it is a durable, reliable “workhorse”. With a cruising speed of 222kph (120 knots) it is one of the slowest aircraft in the fleet, but its ability to land on short, rugged airstrips makes it ideally suited for MAF’S work.
