WHO WE ARE

Mission Aviation Fellowship: a faith-based, not-for-profit, international humanitarian relief and development organisation.

Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF) is a faith-based, not-for-profit, international humanitarian relief and development organisation that flies over 135 light aircraft in more than 30 developing nations around the world.

MAF is at the forefront of a global effort to overcome the effects of physical isolation on communities. MAF reaches places of deepest human need: remote places where flying is not a luxury, but a lifeline. MAF flights and logistical support enable over 1,000  partner organisations to put more of their resources to use where they will make the most difference.

Often MAF aeroplanes are the only safe and reliable means of transportation!

In regions without passable roads, MAF can reduce a doctor’s all-day trek by foot to a mere 20-minute flight, or provide a single flight that can haul a half-ton of cargo into an area that would otherwise require a train of pack animals, several guides and weeks of grueling effort to reach by land.

MAF planes transport medical supplies to restock a local village clinic, Bibles translated into a local language for the very first time, building supplies for a new school, replacement parts for a broken well or a national pastor to provide encouragement and discipleship to a remote congregation. They bring emergency food, transport the sick and injured, deliver doctors, medicine and relief supplies. MAF also bring the resources, including seeds and livestock, which enable people in remote communities to help build better lives for themselves and their families.

MAF flies over jungles, mountains, swamps and deserts to bring the basic services that can only be supplied by using light aircraft. For countless thousands of families, the sound of a MAF plane is the sound of hope.

In New Zealand, MAF is a registered charity funded by voluntary gifts.
