Clean water transforming isolated communities

Fewer stomach aches. Fewer trips to the clinic. More peace of mind at home. That’s what clean water is already changing for families in Enairebuk.

Water Matters has been providing water filters in the community for almost 2 years and the difference is clear. Reduced cases of diarrhoea and stomach illness, which also means less money spent on healthcare.

“One moment that really stayed with us was meeting a blind woman who received her filter months ago. Seeing her use it confidently on her own was a quiet but powerful reminder that simple solutions can truly work for everyone,” Sofia Thörewik.

During the visit, the team spent time listening. They spoke with village leaders, mothers and local partners to understand what’s working well and what could be improved. Water may be the starting point, but the community also shared what they hope for next: pit latrines, water sources closer to their homes and better support for their children’s education.
