Finance Manager | Various Locations

Are you interested in a Finance Manager position in a Christian mission organisation that aims to bring hope, help and healing to isolated areas across the world?  We are flexible on location, therefore this role could be based in any one of our programmes.

As a Finance Manager at MAF your role will be to monitor and protect the financial and legal health of the programme where you are based.  You will be responsible for preparing the programmes annual budget based on strategic plans, providing financial information to the county director and other departments, as well as producing financial monthly accounts with forecasts to the end of the year. You will also be responsible for ensuring the accounting system and internal controls comply with the MAFI finance manual.

You will supervise the programme’s finance staff in all their duties as well as providing clear and regular feedback, training, development and mentoring to the finance staff. Additionally, you may be required to consult with lawyers, accountants, and other advisories to fulfil the requirements of the regulatory authorities of your programme. Therefore, as part of this role excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a team are essential.

We are looking for a candidate who has experience in leadership, has initiative and possesses critical thinking skills with the ability to look beyond one perspective.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, CIMA or equivalent)

  • Experience in managing a finance team

  • Experience in managing relationships with auditors, bankers, and lawyers

  • Experience in accounting systems and internal control procedures

  • Experience in preparing budgets and accounts

  • The ability to research and assimilate laws and regulations and evaluate their impact

School Teachers | PNG

Vital to the work of MAF and other mission organisations on the field, is the education and preparation of the next generation. 

Numonohi Christian Academy, Highland Christian Grammar School and Ukarumpa International School, have a critical need for primary and secondary school teachers. Teachers in these schools nurture the growing faith of students whose parents, both local and international, have committed themselves to the unreached peoples of Papua New Guinea.

We welcome all enquiries for 2024 - 2025. The greatest needs for next school year are high school science or math teachers, as well as foreign language teachers (such as German, Spanish and French) and elementary teachers.

These roles offer the opportunity not only for classroom teaching with bright and dedicated students but also for curriculum development and lesson planning with Biblical integration.  Teachers also have the opportunity to live in vibrant communities with their fellow teaching staff and the wider community while building authentic and meaningful relationships with students as they grow and learn together.

Adhering to the pre-existing curriculum, management of classroom and student discipline will be expected, as well as attendance at staff team meetings and professional educational activities. There are also many opportunities to be involved in coaching, small group bible studies, music, drama and much more. Teaching is one facet of the discipleship process.

Maintenance Operations Supervisor | Mareeba or Arnhem Land

Residential Housing Managers | PNG

MAF is seeking a dedicated and experienced Residential House Manager/s to join the team managing a boarding-type home located at Ukarumpa. This is a vital role for our Program as you will be providing interim parental care for children between the ages of 12 to 17 years whose parents work in various locations serving in PNG.

The Residential House Manager/s will be responsible for ensuring a safe, clean, and enjoyable living environment for our student boarders who call the residential house, their home. This role requires excellent communication and organisational skills, as well as a passion for serving and caring for young people.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing a safe and supportive environment.

  • Seeking to care for each child by monitoring welfare, safeguarding, and any other relevant tasks.

  • Driving children to and from evening and other activities as needed.

  • Providing advice, encouragement and emotional support to children of various ages and nationalities facing the adjustments of cross-cultural situations and living away from parents.

Head of Maintenance | Australia

We are looking for a Head of Maintenance to join our Australian Aircraft Maintenance Organisation (AMO), which covers our operations in Mareeba, Arnhem Land, and Timor Leste. 

 As a highly experienced and knowledgeable professional, you will be responsible for overseeing all maintenance activities and ensuring the safety and airworthiness of our fleet. Additionally, you will provide technical guidance and mentorship for the maintenance team.

As the Head of Maintenance, you will be responsible for:

MAF International are seeking a dynamic individual who has excellent relationship-building and communications skills.

Responsibilities

You will be required to deputise for the Country Director (CD) when they are absence and to represent the CD at key meetings as necessary. You will lead or assist with projects or other work as directed by the CD. The role requires the individual to be verstile and adapt at handling many tasks at the same time whilst keeping a calm attitude and making clear decisions when needed.

Head of Quality and Safety - Technical Operations | Uganda

The Head of Quality and Safety of Technical Operations will maintain the quality assurance programme and the safety management system in the MAF Uganda AMO. The role requires the overseeing and running of an effective Quality Management System, ensuring that MAF Uganda AMO remains in compliance with applicable UCAA and MAF requirements whilst promoting a Quality Culture and maintaining Just Culture processes within the Technical Operations department.

The successful candidate will develop and execute an annual quality plan, including an audit schedule, carry out an annual QMS review process in accordance with the quality manual, including the identification and highlighting quality, safety, security and reliability trends within technical and base operations and ensure these are relayed to the relevant operations team in a timely manner. The role requires engagement in the maintenance department leadership team, advising and providing independent reports to the Accountable Manager and MAF senior management on issues pertaining to Quality and Safety, including detailed analysis of quality and safety reports and trend analysis.
