Why has the IRD declined these receipts?
This has occurred due to our charity structure changing from an Incorporated Society to a Charitable Trust from July 2025.
I have received multiple receipts from MAF. Does this affect all of them?
This issue only applies to one type of receipt
The issue only applies to the MAF in NZ receipts (with red letterhead, as shown below) that state “This is a tax-deductible receipt for donations made for “the period: 1 July 2025 to 31 March 2026”. Please delete this receipt.
Replace with the re-issued receipt you received from us this week. Your new receipt has the donation period as “the financial year ending 31 March 2026”
Important: Any other receipts you have received from MAF have not been affected.
I have already submitted this receipt to IRD, what should I do?
If you have received communication from the IRD that your donation receipt has been rejected, all you need to do is resubmit your new receipt (which will be dated in May).
If you have yet to receive communications from the IRD, you will need to wait until you do before submitting your new donation receipt.
