Partnerships Make All the Difference

One of MAF’s core values is Partnership—we value the strength and diversity that co-operation and collaboration bring and partner with those who share our beliefs and values.

One such partnership is with Lentera Papua, a small, efficient non-profit organisation that focuses on the highlands of Papua, Indonesia. They train and disciple the young generation of Papua to become professionals in ministry, aviation, medical, education and social fields.

Lentera was using their PAC750 aircraft to prepare pilots, but it was destroyed in the March 2018 earthquakes. Imenus had already spent one year training in Papua before the aircraft was destroyed.

While waiting for a replacement aircraft, Imenus left a young family at home to come to the MAF Flight Training Centre (FTC) in Mareeba, Australia. He is using this time to increase his flying hours, with the intention of returning to Papua. During his five weeks at Mareeba, he will gain approximately 50 flight hours in both the C172 and GA8.

He said, “While in Mareeba, I have enjoyed flying, but have also been encouraged in my faith. I really like that everyone is respected and treated equally. I have been inspired by seeing MAF helping people, which leds me to want to help others”.

God be with you as you Imenus as you go back to Papua to continue with your flight course!
