Start your MAF adventure with a short-term experience!

A short-term experience is like a test flight into the world of missionary work. It's your opportunity to be a part of the MAF team, serve in a developing nation and find out if God is calling you into long-term Christian mission work. Use your skills to enhance and support the ongoing work of MAF in one of our vital overseas programmes, and add some incredible experience and stories to your CV.

Reservations Office | Arnhem Land

Currently, we are offering a 12-month mission experience placement position with our Reservations team for an interested candidate contemplating a career in missions.  This is a great opportunity to experience life in a programme environment and to explore whether God is calling them into long-term Christian mission work. 

Responsibilities

As the ideal candidate, you will need to have had some administration and customer service experience as you are required to maintain a customer-focused attitude at all times and assist customers by phone, email and in-person concerning flight reservations and freight. You will need to liaise with customers to provide accurate flight quotations and keep customers informed about flights as to any changes or delays.

As part of the role, you will also assist pilots with the check-in of passengers and baggage for flights, process payments and purchase orders and creation of customer invoices. You must be physically capable of loading and unloading small aircraft.

Conditions of these Mission Experience Placements are: 

  • This MEP placement term is 12 months, and you must be available from Aug/Sept 2023 

  • Applicants must be over 18 years old

  • This is a paid placement; however, applicants need to fund their own flights, health, travel insurance and daily essentials like food.

  • Basic accommodation and daily pickup's will be provided by the programme.

  • Applicants need to fund any additional costs related to quarantine and/or entry into the NT and community.

Missions Experience Placement | PNG

We have a number of opportunities for University Students to gain experience in a mission placement. Aside from helping you understand MAF’s mandate and what it’s like to live in a programme, it will also enhance your knowledge and experience with relevant work assignments that can help you prepare for your future career in missions.

Responsibilities

Opportunities exist for people who have an interest and some experience in;

  • Business Administration – Assisting and supporting the day to day operations of the office, including general duties and special projects.

  • Human Resources – Supporting the HR department, requires you to bring your HR expertise and provide assistance in a variety of areas.

  • Information Technology (IT) – Assisting the IT Team with training and giving advice, trouble shooting, help desk operations and special projects.

  • Videography and editing – Working with the Communications Team to create, gather and edit stories, pictures, and information to share with MAF staff, partners and beneficiaries.

  • Construction – Assisting with a variety of tasks such as maintenance, building projects and construction.

  • Vehicle Maintenance – Tender love and care required for our MAF vehicles and machinery with general maintenance and repairs.

  • Hospitality and other Support Services – Providing hospitality assistance, rostering, coordination of airport pickups, shopping, and housing allocations.

An MEP placement term is 6 - 12 months. 

Applicants will need to fully fund the placement including flights, visa, health, travel insurance and daily essentials like food.

Basic shared accommodation and transport will be provided by the programme

A one day security course will need to be completed at your own cost

Qualifications, Skills & Experience

Applicants must be over 18 years old

Applicants must be enrolled in Uni/College and interested in taking a gap break, as this is condition of the PNG Occupational Training Visa.
